Both Airborne Zanzibar & Airborne Kenya have two main windy seasons throughout the year.
A rough guideline for both bases would be mid December until the end of February, and then from mid May until the end of October.
Our January / February season is the shorter and warmer Northerly ‘Kaskazi’ season offering some epic conditions to keep you on the water all day, just don’t forget your sunblock!
Our longer June to October ‘winter’ season also offers some great winds as well as fantastic surf action for those of you looking to play on the reef breaks, or if you want to give directional boards a go!
In both cases tropical warm waters are a guarantee!;)
Note Kenya’s seasons are slightly longer however being less affected by the renowned ‘rainy season’ and having a more consistent thermal wind factor being on the mainland.
TIP: If you dot mind the odd-hot shower, a still secret month for kitesurfing here is end of May into June, as the famous Kusi winds arrive! This is when our longer Southerly season of wind and waves starts to kick in!;)
