Professional level Instructor Internships

Already a kitesurfer? Love it? Want to make a living from doing what you LOVE? Then this is for YOU!

The internship program is broken up into two main parts depending on your current kitesurfing level and on how long you have been kiting.

1. As a beginner to intermediate level kitesurfer the course is designed to get you right through the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) levels 1, 2 and 3, which will make you a competent, independent upwind rider. This is followed by the required hands-on training to meet *IKO Assistant Instructor Training Course (AITC) and *Instructor Training Course (ITC) skill requirements. You will gain not only personal riding experience but also hands-on teaching, equipment handling and customer relations experience as well as gaining vital knowledge of the kitesurfing industry working with our Instructors within the centre environment.

Together with a minimum required six months at an IKO 3n riding level you will have met all pre-requisites to work up through and attend the IKO Assistant Instructor (AI) level, which is the first internationally recognized professional level. Upon successful completion of your AI you are able to teach components of the IKO level 1. You will also be taught kitesurfing specific boat handling and rescue techniques as well as doing an Emergency First Response (EFR) First Aid course.

Course components

  • IKO level 1
  • IKO level 2
  • IKO level 3
  • Emergency First Response (EFR) First Aid course
  • Boat handling and rescue techniques
  • Assistant Instructor Training Course (AITC) skill requirements
  • Option to partake in an AITC upon completion of the required six months at an IKO 3 riding level
  • Instructor Training Course (ITC) skill requirements

2.  As a competent independant level kiteboarder, with at least 9 months kiteboarding experience and with at least 3 months of riding at an IKO 3n level you will undergo all of the above training components but rather than training through initial riding levels we will focus more on your personal development, understanding of the sport and safety within the sport. The Instructor Training Course (ITC) and Instructor Level 1 certification will then follow after your AITC and the duration of the three month internship.

Course components

  • Evaluation and training to confidently meet and fulfill all IKO levels up to 3n and above
  • Emergency First Response (EFR) First Aid course
  • Boat handling and rescue techniques
  • Assistant Instructor Training Course (AITC)
  • Instructor Training Course (ITC)

NB: For a more detailed outline check the individual courses

*Please see our AITC and ITC Training page for the exact required course pre-requisites, time frames and more specific info on this.

The Assistant Instructor certification allows you to train and certify IKO students worldwide in the IKO 1 level. You will be a valuable asset to any IKO school and can attend an ITC after the overall minimum 12 months of riding, with 6 of those months at an IKO 3n riding level.  The Instructor certification allows you to train and certify students worldwide through IKO levels 1, 2 and 3. In both cases you will be ready to confidently enter the professional world of kitesurfing!

Make a living from your passion and sign in now!

The course is designed to take 3 months. Should you have prior riding experience this may reduce the time to complete the course, however this is only possible if you have prior independant level riding experience. Internships run twice a year within the seasons January through to March and in our longer season of June through to September.

NB: IKO AITC and ITC attendance is possible only upon meeting all kiteboarding skill pre-requisites and time frames as per our IKO course guidelines, however the internship is available to all thinking about entering the professional world of kitesurfing!:) Email us for more info on this.

4,000 Euro. The course includes all material use, training, EFR and IKO certifications and memberships.

A 50% deposit is required one month prior to the start of the course as confirmation of enrolment. The outstanding 50% must be paid within the first month after the start of the internship program.

NB: We recommend the purchase of your own personal kiteboarding equipment within the first 1 1/2 months of your internship. A 500 Euro voucher will be given to you for the purchase of your equipment from us during this period.
